How Compatible Is Your Relationship?

How's your love life? Questions on love and relationships are the ones I get asked the most.

Astrology has specific planets and aspects to check in regards to compatibility between two people.

It can also tell you a lot about your own love style and that of your partner's individually as well as how this translates within a relationship. If you are single it can also show you the type of partner who would enrich your life.

THERE’S MORE TO ASTROLOGY THAN JUST SUN SIGNS

The sun sign of Leo rules the heart and all that this encompasses. However, there is more to the astrology than sun signs. There are also a few other planets that play their part. There is Venus, planet of love. The moon which rules our emotions. Even Mars, usually associated with the God of War has a role to play when it comes to matters of the heart.

VENUS IN LOVE

Let's look at Venus first as she shows where we find beauty. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra. Both in entirely different ways.

Venus rules Taurus with a down to earth approach to love and life. Taureans love to feel secure. They like the finer things in life especially when it comes to food, wine and what they surround themselves with.

Venus rules Libra with more of an onus on beauty that the person has towards themselves and how they interact with others. Librans strive for balance and with Venus as their ruling planet then this balance is rarely displayed in a way that is over the top.

THE MOON AND EMOTIONS

The Moon rules our emotions. It also rules the sign of Cancer. Cancerians usually protect their emotions as they are affected so strongly by the moon's (emotional) influence. They internalise what is going on for them emotionally and sometimes need to cut off from others to do so. Planets in Cancer can show you why a person is being quiet or not opening up to you.

So just by looking at the mix above. We have the Sun for the “self”. Venus for “love”. The Moon for “emotions”. Plus we all have these in different signs which make for an interesting mix when it comes to our heart's desire within love and relationships.

The information this gives within a reading can be very enlightening.

HOW DO YOU INTERACT EMOTIONALLY TOGETHER?

For instance, you may be asking on a partner who is totally different to yourself and you cannot work out why. Say that you have Venus in Sagittarius which makes for a fun loving attitude to love. You are playful, open, honest and adventurous. Suddenly you find yourself with a partner who appeared those things at first, when you were getting to know each other, but then as time went by they displayed different tendencies. This can be explained by their Venus being in a sign such as Scorpio which would be an intensely emotional sign to have Venus situated. They would show jealousy, possessiveness and moodiness. Suddenly you are thinking “what happened?”.

The placement of the Moon can also affect relationships. The Moon rules emotions and if you have your Moon in an Air sign ie Aquarius you tend to experience your emotions in an intellectual way that others may see as detached or cold. This can be especially true if you are with a partner with, say, a Piscean moon who is very much into their emotions and over sensitive because of this.

You can see the pattern appearing in how relationships can go off balance simply because we all have different love styles which are being affected by the planets we have in different signs. If you know what these mean and are able to see things from the other person's point of view then you are one step closer to bridging the gap and understanding each other better.

LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE

Astrology can do that for you as your birth chart shows you clearly where your planets are at the moment of your birth. It also shows you what the planets are doing right now and in the future so you can plan for what is going on in your life. This is known as transits and they can tell you a great deal about your life and your partner's life, give you answers to what is going right or wrong in a relationship and guide you through difficult periods to make things better. Who wouldn't want to know about something like that!

AND THEN THERE IS MARS!

So now I'll get to the planet Mars which you may be curious as to why I call it a love planet.

Mars is what drives us. It is all about energy and going after what we want. In a relationship this can cause havoc if it is expressed through arguments or it can be a saint if it's expressed through feeling in tune and alive on the inside with our partner. It is energy, it doesn't sit still. It allows us to grow and take our relationship in new directions. Mars is many things and it does get a bad rap however it is never boring.

INTERCONNECTIONS WITH MASCULINE AND FEMININE ENERGY

It's also interesting to note that a woman will usually be drawn to a man who has his Sun and Mars, which is masculine energy, in close connection to her planets and a man will be attracted to a woman with her Moon and Venus, which is feminine energy, in close connection to his planets.

There's a whole load of interconnections going on all the time between our own planets and those of our partner's. You may have experienced a few of the examples I've given already.
